Hans Ohlms

Life

Hans Ohlms was born in Hanover in 1908 and died in Nordhorn in 1988.  He was a painter, graphic artist and sculptor and left behind an enormous and multifaceted life's work. It includes landscape paintings, commercial graphics, caricatures and portraits, but also sculptures and experimental pictorial inventions to art in public space.

Work

The life's work of Hans Ohlms includes four thousand works still preserved. An unknown number of works were lost during the Second World War and through his own destruction. His main work is the mosaic in the cemetery chapel in Nordhorn and his imaginary view of the textile industries of the city of Nordhorn, which today hangs in the Stadtmuseum Nordhorn.

The Hans-Ohlms-Foundation

The Hans-Ohlms-Foundation was established in 2023 to manage the life's work of Hans Ohlms and to promote creativity and cultural exchange in the spirit of Hans Ohlms. This can happen in various ways. Primarily, however, the foundation would like to curate its own exhibitions, publish publications, organize seminars and financially support relevant works and young artists.
